My name is Amalia I’m a visual artist, I work mainly in the acrylic medium. Painting has always been a longtime love of mine. My pops (grandpa) was the first person to introduce me to the world of painting. I remember this one particular time visiting my grandparents, I was about 7 or 8, and my pops was painting this very large paint by numbers. It wasn’t the first time I had seen a paint by number but it was the first time I had seen one on such a large scale, I was fascinated. My pops saw that I was in awe of his painting, so he took me out and bought me my own. It’s safe to say that experience started my love affair with painting. I knew then that this was something I could never give up and would continue to do throughout my life. In my work, I tend to let my emotions navigate my ideas. This allows me to release everything that I find to complicate to express in words; this tends to make my work more mysterious. People frequently are surprised when they meet me because my personality doesn’t match my work, or so I’m told. Everyone has different sides to them, we all just choose to express them differently.
